Apple Valley’s incoming Town Manager is a cyclist

On Tuesday, November 28, the Apple Valley Town Council will vote to hire Doug Robertson as the new Town Manager. The good news is that this would dramatically increase the number of cyclists in Apple Valley government from approximately zero to one, as Robertson is a cyclist.

The seemingly endless resurfacing project on Apple Valley Road, has me wondering who the project manager is. My project managing experience comes from being involved with space track stations and major Communication sites. This project has so many loose ends I am glad my name isn’t connected with it.

Town of Apple Valley granted $3.4 million for safe routes to school

Children at Mariana Academy, Sandia Academy, and Apple Valley High School will soon find it easier to walk or bike to school thanks to a $3.4 million grant from the California Department of Transportation.

Status report on the SR-138 (East) realignment

CalTrans crews are hard at work “realigning” State Route 138 east (A.K.A. Highway 138, A.K.A. Rim of the World Highway) from 1.9 miles east of Interstate 15 (A.K.A. I-15) to just west of Post Office Road. Apparently, “realignment” is CalTrans-speak for scrapping the previous road and replacing it with something completely different.

The Apple Valley Town Council will be voting at the September 22 council meeting to award a contract to All American Asphalt for the Townwide Class II Bikeway Upgrade – Project No. 2016-03.

APPLE VALLEY — Bicyclists on the road should be a lot safer after the Victor Valley Bicycle Tour donated hundreds bike safety signs to three High Desert municipalities and the county.
