Tour de Apple Valley (Metric Half Century)

The Tour de Apple Valley is an annual charity ride put on by Chuck and Pat Hanson. It starts at Civic Center Park in Apple Valley. There are metric century (62 mile) and metric half-century (30 mile) rides. It has been well supported by local businesses, and well received by local riders. Proceeds support the Apple Valley Police Activity League.

Road conditions

You can check the pages for each individual road for specific conditions, but overall metric half-century route is a bit smoother when ridden clockwise as opposed to counter-clockwise (the Tour is ridden counter-clockwise). The reason for this is that when you ride clockwise, you are climbing (that is, going more slowly) on the roads that are more bumpy, and descending on roads that are smoother.

Notes

For the 2011 Tour de Apple Valley, it appears there will be two SAGs, and they will be in the same location as last year: One at the corner of Joshua and Waalew, and one in front of the Walmart Distribution Center on Johnson.
