This is a short, flat trail that is completely separate from traffic.
Access to the trailhead is off of 6th Street in old town Victorville, north of Highway 18 East. There is an ample parking lot. Access to the path is restricted by bollards. Some descriptions state that there is a turn-around at the far end (nearest I-15), but this is not the case.
The path runs along Eva Dell Park, which is a suprising large and verdant area of lawn, with a playground a baseball diamond. Running as it does between the park and the Mojave River, it's fairly scenic.
Unless your progress is hindered by small children in your group, this ride should take less than 10 minutes for one out-and-back loop.
The rumor is that someday this bike path will be part of a longer path that runs to the south through the narrows to Mojave Narrows Regional Park (and beyond?).
Road conditions
While the bike path itself is essentially flat, there are a couple places where the level of adjacent concrete slabs don't match well, including one that is so badly heaved that the edge has been painted white for better visibility. There was some sand, dirt, and gravel on the path the day we checked, but nothing serious.

Notes
Note: The surrounding area seems not to be the best, as it is frequented by "hobos" who live in the river wash, and the nearby homes and businesses are somewhat run down.
