Fund-raising bike ride in Joshua Tree

We just received word of a fund-raising bike ride coming up on May 3rd in the Joshua Tree area, put on by the Rotary Club there. Here are the details:

There’s nothing like a NEW pair of shoes for the FIRST day of school! EVERY child deserves them!

Rotary Club of Joshua Tree Foundation cordially invites your riders to our annual Bike-A-Thon, a Bike Ride to raise funds to purchase shoes that fit for children in need on Saturday, May 3, 2014.

We offer three rides, 30k, 60k and 80k through the communities of Yucca Valley, Pioneertown, Landers and Joshua Tree in the Hi Desert where we have blue skies, clean air, fabulous sunrises and sunsets, beautiful desert landscapes and night skies, and we’re located approximately 30 minutes from Palm Springs and an hour twenty minutes from Big Bear.

Depending upon the route you choose, you could be enjoying:

  • A challenging but beautiful ride through famous Pioneertown, home of many western movies and the popular Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneertown Palace
  • The rural town of Landers home of Giant Rock, known world-wide for its unusual UFO activities and Space Conventions, and the Integreton built by author, inventor and controversial UFO advocate, George Van Tassel.
  • The quaint village of Joshua Tree, a community of artists and musicians, home of the West entrance to the beautiful Joshua Tree National Park, Copper Mountain College, and the Hi Desert Cultural Center.
  • Yucca Valley, the economic hub of the Morongo Basin, featuring art galleries, antique shops, Desert Museum, restaurants and coffee shops.

Our Rides:
